On Sunday 30 August, the licensing service of Rev Madeleine Dahl took place at All Saints Church. Madeleine was licensed by the Bishop of Rochester, Rt Rev James Langstaff as an Associate Priest to the parishes of St Paul with All Saints, Chatham and St Mary & St John, Chatham. Madeleine comes to us from Sweden, where she was ordained a priest in the Church of Sweden in 2007.
Madeleine was commended to Bishop James by Bishop Tuulikki Koivunen Bylund, on behalf of the Church of Sweden, and the well attended service included many overseas visitors from Europe and Scandanavia.
Over a period of about two years, she has been exploring whether God might be calling her to be a priest in Chatham, and the service was the public affirmation that this calling was from God. Madeleine spent six weeks on placement at All Saints over Advent and Christmas last year, and her enthusiasm and personality shone through.
As well as serving part-time in two Chatham parishes, Madeleine is living in a newly forming Christian Religious Community in Chatham, which is located in our Parish.
We are very excited to welcome Madeleine to Chatham.
